Hi I got the flyer in the mail today.
If my property gets nominated for heritage protection will this devalue my property?

Hi jwoo.
As to your second question. Anyone from the public can make a nomination by visiting this website:
The concern here is that bad actors are using this nomination process to racially target property owners of minority groups. What's more Council officers are using submissions from these racist groups in order to justify all 8 nominated properties be listed for heritage protection. More information here:
Hi jwoo.
If your property is heritage protected it limits what can be done to the property in terms of renovations, extensions and development. It puts a lot more regulations on the property and council oversight. Any works to the properrty will need heritage approval through a planning process and require heritage reports conducted. Where you could previously paint your hourse whatever colour you want, now council will dictate the colour your house has to be.
there are numerous news articles about this eg:
Given the strict limits on what can be done to your property it will devalue the property by over 30-40% as anyone looking for a property to renovate for a growing family will avoid purchasing your property.
Also is it just an expert who can nominate my property for heritage or can anyone nominate my property?
